Course Introduction:

The Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) course is recognized globally as the gold standard for prehospital trauma education. Developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT), this course emphasizes critical thinking and rapid trauma assessment to improve the quality of care provided to trauma patients before they reach the hospital. PHTLS promotes systematic approaches to patient evaluation and management, ensuring EMS practitioners are prepared to deliver timely, effective care in life-threatening situations.

Course Objectives:

This course aims to provide EMS practitioners with the knowledge and skills necessary to rapidly assess, stabilize, and transport trauma patients safely and effectively. Participants will enhance their ability to make informed decisions under pressure and apply best practices in trauma care.

During this intensive 16-hour, two-day course, participants will cover key topics including

  • The physiology of life and death in trauma situations
  • Scene assessment to ensure safety and optimal patient care
  • Comprehensive patient assessment techniques
  • Techniques for hemorrhage control
  • Airway management strategies
  • Breathing, ventilation, and oxygenation methods
  • Circulation management and shock recognition
  • Considerations for special populations such as pediatrics and geriatrics

The course combines classroom lectures with practical hands-on training to reinforce skills and critical thinking.
