Traumatic brain injury and hypothermia are significant contributors to morbidity and mortality following traumatic injury. While the initial injury has already occurred, trauma providers play a critical role in preventing further damage and deterioration. 

This module reviews traumatic brain injury, assessment findings, prevention of secondary injury, hypothermia prevention, and the trauma triad of death. Students will review the importance of recognizing traumatic brain injury early and preventing additional damage through effective oxygenation, ventilation, perfusion, and temperature management.

Remember: You may not be able to reverse the injury that has already occurred, but you can prevent the conditions that make it worse.
